#OnePerfectThing in October

#OnePerfectThing in October

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

October – it’s the showstopper of autumn. Everything’s at its best. Fiercely beautiful leaves, glorious bursts of colour – and a whisper of warmth still in the air. An average autumn day can’t always live up to this promise, but luckily October is a generous month. No matter how dull and grey things might feel, there’s always one perfect thing to treasure.

This month the #OnePerfectThing gallery on Instagram has been full of these little treasures. Everything from heart-shaped leaves, lighting a new candle to the first frost-tinged leaves. Here are my favourites…

#OnePerfectThing in September

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

September has been a mellow month full of simple pleasures. It’s always sad to say goodbye to summer, but we’ve all been embracing the new season with gusto. Ice creams and beaches have been replaced by simple home comforts: boiled egg and soldiers, the first apples off the tree and kicking through leaves. The treasures of everyday life.

Here are my favourites from the #OnePerfectThing gallery on Instagram!

#OnePerfectThing in August: a farewell to summer

Yellow flowers in a jam jar

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

Welcome to another month of #OnePerfectThing, the hashtag community I curate on Instagram. The sun didn’t always shine in August, but that didn’t stop you all having fun – whether it was on a picnic on the Yorkshire moors, a sunny pair of sandals or a pillow fight at Just So Festival.

We made our own sunshine and enjoyed the last days of summer.

Here are my favourites!

I will miss lots of things about summer, but luckily September is a beautiful, mellow month. And it wouldn’t surprise me at all if summer makes a little reappearance at some point. I can’t wait to see all your #OnePerfectThing moments!

#OnePerfectThing in July

#OnePerfectThing in July

Life can’t always be perfect, but we can still look for something small that makes us happy. It may only be a fleeting moment, but it’s precious.

So, how was July for you?

It’s my birthday month, which always makes it feel extra special. It was also a very busy month – crammed full of sports days, cancelled sports days and other delights. It’s fair to say that the weather has been a little disappointing in the UK – especially after that glorious heatwave in June. It was certainly more puddles than picnics.

But despite the downpours, you all still found beauty and perfection by the barrowload. Which is, of course, the whole point of #OnePerfectThing. I love that you all totally get it. I also love the pinky-purple hue of all the photos – lavender is clearly the colour for July on Instagram.

Thank you all for joining in for July – I can’t wait to see what August brings. Rain, probably, but I know you’ll all make the best of it!

What have been your #OnePerfectThing moments this month?

#OnePerfectThing in June

#OnePerfectThing in June

Life can’t always be perfect, but we can always look for something small that makes us happy. It may only be a fleeting moment, but it’s precious.

Never was that more true than last month. What a truly crazy and deeply sad time we’ve had in the UK. The country’s in political turmoil and there’s been tragedy after tragedy in the news. There are days when it’s impossible to keep burying your head in the sand and pretend that everything’s ok.

But I think I’d go mad if I didn’t distract myself from it. That’s because recognising the little moments of perfection in my life isn’t really burying my head in the sand. It’s about finding comfort in the small things. Now more than ever, we need to remember to find time to do this everyday.

Some of us find comfort in waving placards, others in a cup of coffee or picking a bunch of flowers in our garden. In these weird days we’re living in, just do whatever you can to keep sane.

And now, it’s over to you! June was a BEAUTIFUL month for our Instagram community. Really beautiful. Here’s what I loved.

#OnePerfectThing in May

#OnePerfectThing in May

Our #OnePerfectThing community is one year old this month!

That’s one whole year of spotting the little moments of perfection in our days. Life can’t always be perfect, but we can always look for something small that makes us happy. It may only be a fleeting moment, but it’s precious.

This ethos feels just as fresh one year on. In fact, right now, it feels spot on. We live in unsettling, sometimes frightening times. I find comfort in the small things. Watching my flowers grow, a blissful cuddle with my boys, a perfect flat white, a well-earned glass of fizz in the evening sun…

Thinking like this has helped me on my own personal journey, and I love that so many of you have joined in with me on Instagram. I do spend a bit too long looking on my phone sometimes, but who can blame me when I can share all your amazing moments too?

Here are my favourites from the last month!

There’s beauty and perfection to be found everywhere. If we remember that, I don’t think we’ll go far wrong.

If you’d like to join in on Instagram, then please do tag your photos with #oneperfectthing. Or, if you don’t have Instagram, why not e-mail me something or share it with me on Twitter or Facebook.

And one last thing…It would totally make my day (year?) if some of you lovely people would like to nominate me in the Inspire category of the Britmum’s Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2017!

#OnePerfectThing in April

Spring Posy

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last May. I started it as a little project to remind myself to feel happy every day. And I’m so happy it’s inspiring others to look for the little happy moment in life too!

April was a month of blossom, mini eggs and flowers from the garden. The weather didn’t always behave, but we had some really gorgeous days and hardly any April showers. I love the way that the colour palette changes with every month. April was full of pinks, purples and blues – cherry blossom, tulips and forget-me-nots.

There’s been a lot of grumbling about Instagram lately. Mainly, about how it’s losing the authentic, friendly feeling it once had – that algorithms are crushing the natural camaraderie of the space. I agree with this in some ways, but it’s still possible for us to enjoy creating our own little communities within it. So let’s keep on sharing what we love.

Here are my favourites from April!

#OnePerfectThing in March

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last May. That’s almost a year ago. I started it as a little project to remind myself to feel happy every day. Now there are over two thousand little moments of perfection in our gallery! Every month it continues to delight and surprise me – especially as we all seem to be so like-minded.

March has been a wonderful month. As we move into spring I feel like my happiness dial gets turned up a little more everyday. Your photos were so colourful – from sunshine yellows to purples and pinks. The dull days of winter already seem long ago.

Here are my March favourites:

#OnePerfectThing in February

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last year. I’ve loved looking at your photos during February.  We’re all glad to see the back of a long winter. But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. Your photos taught me that even on the most horrible, cold, grey days there’s still beauty and perfection to be found.

We’ve been seeking comfort and solace indoors: tea drunk while gazing out of a steamy window, a favourite old chair to sink into – or making jam tarts with sticky little helpers.

By the end of the month we all felt a hint of spring in the air and began to venture outside: spotting the little jewel-like blooms bursting out of the ground, or buying the beautiful spring flowers filling the shops and markets.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last year.  Looking through your first photos of 2017 has been a real pleasure. And you know what it taught me? That January certainly isn’t that bleak after all. Not if your photos are anything to go by.

I loved each and every picture. Here are just some of my highlights.
