#OnePerfectThing in May

#OnePerfectThing in May

Our #OnePerfectThing community is one year old this month!

That’s one whole year of spotting the little moments of perfection in our days. Life can’t always be perfect, but we can always look for something small that makes us happy. It may only be a fleeting moment, but it’s precious.

This ethos feels just as fresh one year on. In fact, right now, it feels spot on. We live in unsettling, sometimes frightening times. I find comfort in the small things. Watching my flowers grow, a blissful cuddle with my boys, a perfect flat white, a well-earned glass of fizz in the evening sun…

Thinking like this has helped me on my own personal journey, and I love that so many of you have joined in with me on Instagram. I do spend a bit too long looking on my phone sometimes, but who can blame me when I can share all your amazing moments too?

Here are my favourites from the last month!

There’s beauty and perfection to be found everywhere. If we remember that, I don’t think we’ll go far wrong.

If you’d like to join in on Instagram, then please do tag your photos with #oneperfectthing. Or, if you don’t have Instagram, why not e-mail me something or share it with me on Twitter or Facebook.

And one last thing…It would totally make my day (year?) if some of you lovely people would like to nominate me in the Inspire category of the Britmum’s Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2017!

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last May. I started it as a little project to remind myself to feel happy every day. And I’m so happy it’s inspiring others to look for the little happy moment in life too!

April was a month of blossom, mini eggs and flowers from the garden. The weather didn’t always behave, but we had some really gorgeous days and hardly any April showers. I love the way that the colour palette changes with every month. April was full of pinks, purples and blues – cherry blossom, tulips and forget-me-nots.

There’s been a lot of grumbling about Instagram lately. Mainly, about how it’s losing the authentic, friendly feeling it once had – that algorithms are crushing the natural camaraderie of the space. I agree with this in some ways, but it’s still possible for us to enjoy creating our own little communities within it. So let’s keep on sharing what we love.

Here are my favourites from April!

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last May. That’s almost a year ago. I started it as a little project to remind myself to feel happy every day. Now there are over two thousand little moments of perfection in our gallery! Every month it continues to delight and surprise me – especially as we all seem to be so like-minded.

March has been a wonderful month. As we move into spring I feel like my happiness dial gets turned up a little more everyday. Your photos were so colourful – from sunshine yellows to purples and pinks. The dull days of winter already seem long ago.

Here are my March favourites:

#OnePerfectThing in February

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last year. I’ve loved looking at your photos during February.  We’re all glad to see the back of a long winter. But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. Your photos taught me that even on the most horrible, cold, grey days there’s still beauty and perfection to be found.

We’ve been seeking comfort and solace indoors: tea drunk while gazing out of a steamy window, a favourite old chair to sink into – or making jam tarts with sticky little helpers.

By the end of the month we all felt a hint of spring in the air and began to venture outside: spotting the little jewel-like blooms bursting out of the ground, or buying the beautiful spring flowers filling the shops and markets.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram last year.  Looking through your first photos of 2017 has been a real pleasure. And you know what it taught me? That January certainly isn’t that bleak after all. Not if your photos are anything to go by.

I loved each and every picture. Here are just some of my highlights.

#OnePerfectThing in December

#OnePerfectThing in December: Teasel

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful.

#OnePerfectThing is a community I started on Instagram back in May. I love how it’s grown over the last six months and looking through all the beautiful photos from like-minded people is always a pleasure.

And now here we are with the last gathered collection of the year. December has been a month of many parts, hasn’t it? The beginning of the month was characterised by a frenzy of activity: shopping, planning and making.

Jess’ photo of a perfect coffee reminds me of those days in early December when I made many a list over many a cup of coffee.

#OnePerfectThing in December, Mummy of Boy Girl Twins

Then comes the festivities. A beautiful kaleidoscope of baubles, wreaths and gingerbread cookies. Caro’s picture of her son really summed up the nurturing, cherishing, magical feeling of Christmas days (as did her whole stream of photos, to be honest!).

#OnePerfectThing in December, The Twinkles Mama

And after the indulgence of Christmas came the frosty, bright days – full of good intentions and plans for the new year just waiting in the wings. This beautiful view from Andrew really captures that feeling perfectly, don’t you think?

#OnePerfectThing in November

#OnePerfectThing in November

Perfection often feels out of reach. But however imperfect you’re finding life, you can make an effort to find #OnePerfectThing. Something which makes you pause, smile and feel thankful. Since starting this idea, I’ve really taken the time to find the beautiful in the everyday – that little moment that makes your day, nested in amongst the mundane things.

I know we’re all really excited about Christmas, but can we just pause for a moment and look back at November? So many of you have been sharing your #OnePerfectThing photos over on Instagram – our little gallery now has over a thousand photos in it! Each and everyone makes me smile.

November was a really good month – full of frosty leaves, sunny skies and plenty of cosy moments. Here are just some of my favourite photos from you all…

#OnePerfectThing in October

unknown-17

October really was the most beautiful month, wasn’t it? A few days ago, I wrote about my highlights. And now it’s your turn.

The #OnePerfectThing gallery on Instagram has been awash with gorgeous images all month. October is the last truly bright month before we move into the darkness of winter. Sure, we’ve had our fair share of gloom, but your photos have made the most of those last long days. Mellow oranges, reds, yellows….leaves, pumpkins and cosy moments – everything that sums up October.

Now that the clocks have gone back and we’re creeping towards winter, let’s take a moment to stop and appreciate all that mellow colour and happiness. Thank you for sharing your perfect little moments. Here are my favourites:

#OnePerfectThing in September

OnePerfectThing in September

#OnePerfectThing is a community I’m growing on Instagram.

September has been a lovely month. I’ve loved watching how summer has gradually started fading into autumn. The pretty blooms are still there, but so are the autumn treasures – conkers, cobnuts, golden leaves and cosier moments indoors.

My favourite photos this month remind me of all those things. Caro’s cup of tea with a pretty bloom hanging on from summer, Isabelle’s perfect blueberry pancakes, Amanda’s foraged cobnuts and Kathryn’s cosy kitten.

#OnePerfectThing

My absolute favourite this month is Amanda’s collection of foraged nuts

unknown-61

As Amanda puts it:

‘every year I watch the hazel nuts growing from scrunched up bunches of brilliant greenness. Returning to the places I’ve seen them is always a disappointment, either someone got there months ago and laid their wormy eggs or the squirrels have beaten me to it. I couldn’t resist these tiny tight packets of frayed parchment, they’ve sat on the table for the last couple of days and started to brown up. Later we’ll enjoy their creamy freshness with a mature cheddar.’

Which sums up #OnePerfectThing completely!

I can’t wait to see your October photos. Just use the tag #OnePerfectThing over on Instragram to join in.

#OnePerfectThing in August

#OnePerfectThing in August

#OnePerfectThing is a community I’m growing over on Instagram. It’s all about sharing photos which capture a little bit of perfection in amongst the everyday. Life can’t always be perfect: our houses are messy, our children whinge and sometimes the glass can feel permanently half-empty. But why not try stopping for a moment to recognise one small thing that makes you happy? A nice cup of coffee and a slice of cake, cuddling a pet or maybe just watching Poldark.

You don’t have to take a photo, but if you do, I’d love to see it  – just use the tag #OnePerfectThing over on Instragram to join in.

I’ve loved seeing all of your photos during August. Here are my favourites:
